The FBI is investigating after an explosive device was found at the home of George Soros late Monday evening.
According to a report from Fox News, local police were called to Soros’ home in the city of Bedford in Westchester County, New York. The bomb squad reportedly detonated an explosive device found at the home.
It is not clear if Soros, the billionaire whose foundation has funded left-wing causes and organizations for decades, was home at the time.
“We are conducting an investigation at and around a residence in Bedford, NY,” the FBI New York branch tweeted Monday evening. “There is no threat to public safety, and we have no further comment at this time.”

An employee working at the home reportedly found a package in the home’s mailbox, and opened it to find the device inside. It was placed in a wooded area near the home until police arrived.
The FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is now on the scene and investigating.
The 88-year-old Soros has long been a target of criticism by conservatives and Republican politicians, whose opponents are often funded by Soros’s foundation and political groups.
The Open Society Foundations, a network of charitable foundations under Soros’ control, is responsible for most of his funding of political activism. Soros was recently linked millions given to The Center for Popular Democracy (CPD), which led the opposition to Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.
Democratic congressional candidate Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez was quick to blame the conservative right for the attempt on Soros’ life.
When the right increasingly mischaracterizes nonviolent civil disobedience as “violence,” they provoke actual, targeted attempts to harm others.
