An illegal immigrant has been arrested by ICE after he was caught trespassing at Kendall Jenner’s home. The man, who was convicted of stalking the model, gained access to her home because no wall was erected behind her house.
Jenner, a member of the Kardashian family, has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump’s immigration policies handling the flood of migrants at the border.
The stalker reportedly overstayed his VISA and began stalking the celebrity over the past few months. Even though Jenner lives in a gated community in Beverly Hills and has a security team, the man twice gained access to her home by climbing over a hill that did not have a wall.
In October of last year, Canadian resident John Ford, trespassed on to her property, he hung out beside her pool but left before police could arrest him. A second time, he was sitting on her front porch and this time, was caught by police. He was convicted on charges in both incidents and was supposed to leave the country on his own.
Even though he was in the country illegally, Ford was not held in custody and disappeared after the trial. ICE agents, fearing possible threats of violence, have been searching for Ford. He was finally apprehended this week and awaits a deportation hearing. “This timely arrest could very well have prevented a violent crime. Our special agents acted quickly on this tip to ensure that this obsessive behavior didn’t escalate to become a tragedy,” an ICE official told TMZ.
Last year, Jenner joined a chorus of celebrities criticizing President Trump over the treatment of minors separated from their parents after entering the country illegally. She shared a tweet from Democratic senator Chris Murphy that said, “The President of the United States has stolen 2,000 little children from their parents and locked them in cages, to be released only if Congress gives him money to build a wall with Mexico.” Jenner also posted a link to a petition by the ACLU which protested the “abuse” of immigrant children by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.
Ford is now being held at an ICE facility in El Paso, TX while he awaits a deportation hearing.
The Kardashian-Jenner family says, “We are extremely appreciative of the hard work by the Los Angeles Police Dept. and ICE, whose swift response and professionalism led to this man’s apprehension. His actions have not only had a severe impact on Kendall’s life, but the entire family’s sense of security, causing us to fear for Kendall’s safety as well as our own. Knowing this individual is in custody gives us peace of mind.”
It is not clear why California authorities did not initially hold Ford in October or turn him over to ICE, despite being in the country illegally.
