Previously Deported Illegal Immigrant Arrested for Sex Assault of Young Girl

Authorities in Polk County, Florida have arrested a previously deported illegal immigrant on charges that he had sex multiple times with an underage girl.

Jesus Ramirez-Velasco was first deported by ICE a decade ago, and yet was back in the United States and living in Florida. He was living with his girlfriend in Florida and reportedly began having sex with her 16-year-old daughter.

Even more enraging, once authorities confronted him over the crime, he tried to blame the victim, telling them she repeatedly asked for sex.

The Ledger reports on the crime.

A Mulberry man has been arrested for alleged sexual battery on a 16-year-old girl, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.

Jesus Ramirez-Velasco, 31, was arrested Saturday and faces 20 counts of sexual battery, the PCSO reported. Ramirez-Velasco was the boyfriend of the girl’s mother, according to a news release.

The victim told investigators that Ramirez-Velasco first initiated unwanted sexual contact with her in mid-December, the Sheriff’s Office reported. An investigation found that the two had sexual intercourse at least 20 times, and Ramirez-Velasco confirmed that, the release said.

The crime only came to light after the victim told her mother, and alerted authorities.

The Sheriff’s Office began investigating over the weekend after the victim told her mother about the encounters and said Ramirez-Velasco had threatened to harm her mother if the girl didn’t have sex with him again.

Upon his arrest, Ramirez-Velasco told detectives that he knew the activity was illegal but claimed the victim had asked him for sex, the PCSO reported.

“A crime such as this against a child is heinous,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. “To blame the victim for his behavior is appalling.”

Ramirez-Velasco, a native of Mexico, was arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in 2008 and deported, the Sheriff’s Office said. He later returned illegally to the United States.

The Sheriff’s Office notified ICE of Ramirez-Velasco’s current arrest and charges, the release said.
